How to read this map

Chakra, from the Sanskrit for "wheel", describes centres of energy along the body. The idea comes from the tantric traditions of medieval India, where different texts counted different numbers of centres. The seven-centre map used here reached the West in the early twentieth century and has since become the shared language of yoga, Reiki, sound healing and meditation.

The tones come from the Solfeggio chakra map, the most widely used pairing today, which gives each centre one of the Solfeggio frequencies from 396 Hz at the root to 963 Hz at the crown.

Other pairings

Chakra and frequency pairings are a living, modern practice, and teachers work with different maps. Many place 528 Hz, the Love Frequency, at the heart; 432 Hz is often chosen as a heart-centred tone; 174 Hz is used as a foundation beneath the root. Each chakra page shows these alongside the main pairing, so you can listen to both.
